Did you know that a commonly misheard phrase is called a mondegreen? Now you do! While you may have never heard that term, you’ve likely heard (or misheard, rather) lyrics to a song that may have been a little different than what the song really says. Taylor Swift’s “Starbucks lovers,” anyone? Here are a few Disney lyrics that we’re constantly hearing people get wrong. (We might be guilty of getting a few of these wrong too.) See if there are any that surprise you:
Misheard: ♫ Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the lukewarm moon ♫
Correct: ♫ Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon ♫
Misheard: ♫ Pink pajamas, penguins on the bottom ♫
Correct: ♫ Nants ingonyama bagithi baba ♫
Misheard: ♫ With all the force of the great Thai food ♫
Correct: ♫ With all the force of a great typhoon ♫
Misheard: ♫ Forget about your worries and your stripes ♫
Correct: ♫ Forget about your worries and your strife ♫
Misheard: ♫ It’s our problem freeze, for the lots of ease ♫
Correct: ♫ It’s our problem-free philosophy ♫
Misheard: ♫ Call us brutal, saints of Disney ♫
Correct: ♫ Call us brutal, sick, sadistic ♫
Misheard: ♫ A shining new mirror is tiptoeing nearer ♫
Correct: ♫ A shining new era is tiptoeing nearer ♫
Misheard: ♫ Every turn a surprise, every moment gets better ♫
Correct: ♫ Every turn a surprise, every moment red letter ♫
Misheard: ♫ Do you wanna build a snowman, it’s only gonna be a snowman ♫
Correct: ♫ Do you wanna build a snowman, it doesn’t have to be a snowman ♫
Misheard: ♫ Some folks might be a little bit smaller than I am, bigger and stronger it’s true ♫
Correct: ♫ Some folks might be a little bit smarter than I am, bigger and stronger too ♫

My niece thought the beginning of “I’ve Got a Dream” on Tangled said, “I’m malicious, mean and scary, my snicker turtle dairy,” instead of, “My sneer could curdle dairy.” I would laugh so hard every time she sang that song! ☺️
