The Richard Petty Driving Experience and Exotic Driving Experience at Walt Disney World will be closing in late June to make way for transportation improvements.
Disney hasn’t announced yet what the transportation improvements are going to be. The track currently resides near the Magic Kingdom parking lot. The Richard Petty Experience currently employs about 70 people at the Walt Disney World location. The employees will have the opportunity to transfer to Daytona International Speedway, which also has the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Petty Holdings has also said that Disney will assist in finding jobs elsewhere at Walt Disney World for the employees.
Petty Holdings announced they would like to build a new track somewhere around Orlando, but are unsure if they will be able to build a traditional speedway. The Exotic Driving Experience has become very popular so they would like to build a road course for that. If they do build something close, we will make sure to let you know for those fans of enjoy the driving experience.
Currently, the Richard Petty Driving Experience has 15 other tracks around the US. If you are interested in more about the attraction at Disney, you can read our article HERE about the offerings or go to DrivePetty.com for more information.
The target date for the closure is June 28th, as we get more details about the future of the area we will be sure to pass it along.

My family and I just did this in December. It was one of our favorite experiences. We did the exotic driving. This is a bummer to see it go because it was something different and unique.
