I saw something the other day on the Disney Parks blog about sidekicks. Now I don’t want to talk about sidekicks, but rather partners. Let me clarify, I’m not talking about their boyfriends/girlfriends/spouses. That is a whole other category. I’m talking about the partners that either got them in trouble or help them get out of it. Picked them up when the chips were down or cheered them on when things were great. The friend that always there no matter what. Now I’m not going to mention Walt and Mickey, they are Partners and I won’t take anything away from them. I’m sure most thought of them first when you read the title.
Let’s take a look at some of my favorites and let us know in the comments, what are some of your favorites:
Now to me, the first one I thought of is Mickey and his loyal pup Pluto. Pluto was created in 1930 to be Mickey’s pet, but I think is more his best friend. Even when its a picture with Mickey and Minnie, you see Pluto a lot of times. They are great partners in everything.
Now what about Chip and Dale? I mean how boring would they be if it was just Chip and no Dale? I can’t imagine the fun that would be missed out on.
Now this next one is 3, but they are definitely partners in everything they do. Huey, Dewey and Louie. I can’t imagine one without the others. Donald’s mischievous nephews were always together on everything good or bad.
How about Dumbo and Timothy Q. Mouse. Dumbo needed Timothy. He was the one who cared more about Dumbo than anyone and wanted to make him rich and help free his mother. Without him, where would have Dumbo ended up?
Now if you have been a follower of TMSM for awhile, you know we are big Pirates fans. What about Pintel and Ragetti? These guys are the perfect best friends. They do everything together and even think a like. Plus they gave us that gag bit whenever the movies needed a laugh.
Now I know there are so many partner teams in Disney history, but there are none other that mean more to me then Walt and Roy. They were brothers, best friends, business partners, and always there for one another. All the way to the end, these men dedicated their lives to making other families come closer. In the history of Disney, I can’t think of any set of Partners that did more to help bring us all the magic we love.
