While driving into the Magic Kingdom parking lot, you have probably noticed the big NASCAR track to the left. That is the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Richard Petty is a legend in the NASCAR circuit. Nicknamed “The King”, Petty has has won the NASCAR Championship seven times, winning a record 200 races during his career, winning the Daytona 500 a record seven times, and winning a record 27 races in the 1967 season alone. You may also recognize him as the voice of Strip “The King” Weathers from the 2006 Pixar film, Cars. Hands down he is one of the most accomplished and recognized names in racing.
Now you can experience the rush of a lifetime at Richard Petty Driving Experience, where you can live out your fantasy of being a NASCAR driver on Disney’s mile-long tri-oval racetrack. Test your driving skills and learn what it takes to compete in NASCAR, all while your friends and family cheer you on.
Wether you want to drive the car yourself for up to 50 laps or ride along with a professional driver for 3 laps, they offer a few different packages to entertain you.
The Ride-Along Experience gives the thrill of NASCAR as a passenger in a 2-seater as one of their professional driving instructors puts the pedal to the metal for the G-force ride of a lifetime. The associated cost is $99 + tax.
Now if you are ready for the next step, and want to drive the car yourself they have a few different options:
The Rookie Experience gives you 8 laps as the driver and will run $449 + tax and lasts 2 1/2 hours.
The King Experience gives you 18 laps for the price of $849 + tax and lasts 2 1/2 hours.
The Experience of a Lifetime gets you 30 laps for $1,299 + tax and lasts 2 1/2 hours.
The Racing Experience will give you 50 laps and run you $2,599 + tax. For that you will receive instructions from your crew chief over the radio while driving in the lead, follow side-by-side tandem and passing driving sessions. Also included you will get the 3-lap ride along, a in-car video of the driving experience, photo plaque and some other souvenir merchandise. This experience takes about 4 hours to complete.
They also offer an experience for the junior NASCAR enthusiast. For $59 + tax, children up to 14 can ride shotgun in a race car, driven around the track by one of the professional instructors.
On top of all the NASCAR experiences, there is also the Exotic Driving Experience. Imagine driving around the track in a Porsche, Lamborghini or evan a Ferrari.
