TMSM’s Adventures in Florida Living ~ Saying Hello to Friends & Goodbye to the Lights!

Happy Wednesday Main Streeters! I hope your week is going well thus far! It’s time for our weekly check in already, time is flying by! It’s mid January, but here in Florida it’s hard to tell that by just looking around. This Northerner is still adjusting to minimal seasonal changes, that’s for sure. My Dad texted me a picture earlier this week of their driveway with snow all over the car and ground with a caption saying “trade ya!” It’s a good reminder of how lucky we are this year to not have to deal with the icy roads and shoveling snow. I miss my family, but not the freezing temperatures! Speaking of home, we finally got the Skype working now that my Mom got a tablet after Christmas, so we got to SEE them the other night instead of just talk! That really does help, being that we miss them so much. They’re planning a trip down here in April though, and I can’t wait!

The kids are back in the swing of things as far as school goes. We’ve been getting the house back in order, putting away Christmas decorations and such, and Disney is doing the same thing in their parks. Downtown Disney still had their Christmas tree up and garland and such as of today, but last weekend was said to be the end of the lit up Castle and full holiday decor on Main Street at the Magic Kingdom. On Saturday, we were asked to go and meet up with some Main Streeters at the MK to visit, go on some rides, and to see the beautiful lights one more time before they went away. I was excited about this meet up because I hadn’t been to the MK since before Christmas, and truthfully, I missed it. Also, I was glad when I heard that the Castle was still going to be lit up and the decorations were still there. Our visit with the group went really well, as usual. I can’t say enough how amazing it is to meet up with people who started out as fans of the site, and in turn became good friends. It’s a magical thing. There were enough of us to dominate a corner of Cosmic Rays for dinner, then we headed over to the Haunted Mansion for a ride. After the Haunted Mansion, our rowdy and super fun group headed over to Pirates of the Caribbean and the Jingle Cruise, where we basically had boats to ourselves. Everyone had such a good time! Before we headed out, I insisted that we get some pics in front of the Castle and it’s lovely lights one last time. Even though it was odd to hear Christmas music around Main Street 3 weeks after the fact, the lights themselves are just stunning. Although I’m a local now, I still do that last look around, a few times actually, in hopes to keep those memories stored well. I especially focused on the Castle lights. I’m so glad we got to see them again, and meet up with some awesome people too.

Speaking of meet ups, in the past week we’ve had some readers ask when we’re going to be scheduling some TMSM Meet Ups for the coming year. I’m going to work on getting some dates together soon. The plan is to do some mini meet ups, and maybe two larger ones for the year, but nothing is set yet. Our Main Streeters mean so much, and I’m looking forward to meeting more of you in the coming months! As soon as I get some definite details, I will be sure to share the information, I appreciate your patience! So, that’s it for this weeks Florida living update! As always, I thank you all for reading and following along with us on our adventures. Until next week, I wish you all lots of pixie dust and blessings to come your way…..see ya real soon! ~Michele
