Disney from a Teen’s Perspective: Osborne Lights Hide and Seek

Osborne1

You may or may not have heard about some of the hidden items in the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights display. I recently visited the light display just to look for all of the hidden items. There are amazing amounts of hidden Mickey’s as well. You may have heard about the black cat that is hidden in the lights. We actually took the time to find him this year.

We had a long and hard journey to find him. A friend of ours had found it a previous night and it was hidden in a sleigh. Well, we checked every single sleigh and it wasn’t there. We asked a CM who guided us to the right street but we still had no luck. We asked another CM who guided us back to the light tunnel street. We finally asked a final CM who was one of the back stage guys. He had told us “it was on the other side of this street but in this alley.” He also told us that “you could only see it from a certain angle.” We went to the other side of this alley, which was the side with the basketball hoop, and started searching from all different angles. We finally found the cat! It was a long and frustrating journey but we did it!

Here’s a quick bit of history about the black cat: this cat was mistakenly packed when the lights were sent to Disney back in 1995. Every year, it is hidden so park guests can hunt for it. From what I was told by a CM, they move the cat every 2 days, so where I found it may not be where you find it.

A few other items we found was the leg lamp from my all-time favorite Christmas movie, A Christmas Story, and Baby Sinclair from the old ABC show “Dinosaurs.” Also, there is a total of 43 hidden Mickey’s in the display.

With all the hidden items in the display, it makes it an extra enjoyable experience. Being able to go anytime I want, I find new things every time I visit the display. What’s your favorite thing to find in the display? Also, have you ever found the black cat?

About TMSM’s Teen Perspective Writer Gabby Adani:

”Hi Mainstreeters! I’m Gabby and I’m going to be writing about Disney from a teen’s perspective. But first let me tell you a little bit about myself. I’m 13 years old and have had Disney Annual Passes my whole life. Disney is literally my second home. I’m an honors student and enjoy school. My favorite sport is volleyball. I play for both my middle school team and the YMCA. I am also a huge fan of Star Wars.”
