TMSM’s Adventures in Florida Living ~ Christmas Hits Disney World

Happy Wednesday Everyone! This week finds me to be surrounded by Christmas at Walt Disney World! I told you in last week’s blog that it was coming, and my goodness, it’s here! We went to the first Christmas Castle lighting last Wednesday night, and were so excited to see the Castle lit up for the season. We got there in the afternoon, and the kids were amazed that all the pumpkins were gone, and toy soldiers and wreaths were in their place. It’s crazy how Disney flips holidays basically overnight. They have Christmas musing piping through the TTC and around the Castle, it’s really awesome to see and hear. Usually we hear the theme from UP near that Castle, now you’ll hear Hark the Herald Angels Sing! Pretty darn cool!

The Castle lighting was beautiful. Seeing Cinderella Castle lit up for Christmas is something to behold, and until this year, we’ve only seen it on tv or in pictures. The new Frozen show ahead of time…. umm…. don’t throw rocks at me, but it was just ok. The walking Olaf was interesting! I understand that Disney is running with Frozen because that’s what’s selling, I guess it’s all about the marketing. The Frozen show also is bringing out the rudeness in guests it seems. Lots of hostility and shoving to get close to the Castle. I’ve never seen it that bad before, and it saddens me a little. It’s our Happy Place, no need for being mean! :Ain’t nobody got time for that!” On a better note, we also got to see the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights at the Studios for the first time! All I can say is WOW!

We got to Hollywood Studios early, because my friend Andy who is a local, said that we’d want to be there when they flip the switch so to speak. He was so right. When the lights came on, and the music started, you really become overwhelmed with the Christmas spirit. My kids just dropped their jaws for at least 5 minutes, they couldn’t believe it. I could have stayed there all night, it was amazing. I plan to go back many more times to get footage and pics, there was just so much to see. We got great video too, I’ll link it below in case you didn’t see it yet!

Like I said before, it’s odd being from the North and seeing Christmas decorations in warm weather, but it’s a good thing too. We’re adjusting, and I feel pretty blessed that I got to see these things finally, and got to see my children enjoy the festivities. I don’t want them to ever take that for granted though, so we don’t go to the parks “all” the time! Christmas time though, I know I’d love to see the lights a lot more because I know it’s only done for a short period of time. Gotta enjoy it while you can! I’m going to try to get more video and pics so stay tuned!

Thank you, as always, for reading our Florida living update this week. I cant’t tell you how much it means to me that after months on this journey, that you’re still following along! You all are the best!! Not sure what the next week will hold, but you can be sure I will tell you all about it! Till next week, big hugs Main Streeters! See Ya Real Soon! ~M
