It’s time for our weekly update Main Streeters! Things have been going pretty decent since last weeks update. The kids are settling back to school, the weather has been less rainy, and we’re all adjusting to new routines. Last Friday evening, we had our second TMSM Mini Meet Up at Hollywood Studios, so that’s what this weeks update will focus on!
The weather was really hot last week, heat indexes over 100 degrees, with some heavy rain thrown in. Friday afternoon was hot and sunny, but as the meet up time grew closer I started to get concerned. Florida weather is so unpredictable as you know, there was rain in the forecast and I was trying to think of a back up plan for the meet up. We arrived at Hollywood Studios shortly after 6:00 and the sky was getting dark. We met up with some Main Streeters and headed to the Backlot Express to eat. Just as we got to the restaurant, the sky opened up and it rained….. and rained hard. I started getting messages from some other Main Streeters, some were taking cover in another location, and some were cancelling for the evening due to the weather. I was a bit worried, but hopeful. Once we got done eating, other people showed up where we were, the rain stopped, and we started walking towards the Frozen Fun stage area.
As we approached the spot in front of the American Idol Experience where I said to meet, there were other people waiting for us with their TMSM buttons on. I was glad to see this! Cast Members were uncovering the food carts and the stage was finally setting up. Everything had closed down from the rain, but the place was coming alive again! It was so nice to see people there. We all talked, the kids danced around (Thanks to Patty), we listened to the band, and closed the night out with the beautiful Frozen Fireworks! Afterwards, we stuck around for more photos and discussed future meet ups. We won’t be doing an official meet up in September, only because we have the BIG meet up on October 25th and I have to prepare. More details on the October 25th WDW Meet Up soon! I truly appreciate everyone who came out despite the weather conditions! It amazes me that people take time out of their busy schedules to come and meet up with my family and I, and to mingle with other Main Streeters. We have such a sense of family and community within The Main Street Mouse, and I’m very grateful for that!
In addition to the meet up, we’ve seen a lot of Halloween decorations going up around Disney property! Granted, we haven’t been to the Parks as much because of school schedules, we’ve still been keeping an eye out for the latest additions. We went to the Magic Kingdom on Saturday night instead of Villains Unleashed, which proved to be a better choice. The Halloween window displays were up on Main Street, and I was just saying to the kids, by next week it’s going to be Halloween decorations galore! Well it sure is now! I have lots of pictures to take and reporting to do in the next few days. As always, I thank you for following along with us on our adventures, and again thank those who attended this months meet up.
