I can’t believe we’ve been in Florida for 7 weeks. Also, I can’t believe school starts in less than two. This Summer has flown by so fast, it’s just crazy. We’ve been so busy, so that’s probably part of it. I’m sort of sad that school is coming soon. I’m not ready to send the boys to school yet, I love having them home and having the ability to have that little bit of freedom to come and go as we need to. It’s part of that permanent vacation mentality I think. Being down in the Disney area makes you feel like you’re on vacation all the time, but reality is about to creep back in. We just have to make the best of it! So…. let’s see what we’ve been up to in the past week.
We went back to Hollywood Studios last weekend to catch the Frozen Fireworks again and have some Frozen cupcakes. Although I do believe the Frozen hype is a bit much, I have to admit that I will miss the events at the Studios. After thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that DHS moved up in the ranks on my favorite park list, and I think the Frozen fun is part of that. Disney Hollywood Studios NEEDED this. While the park has fun things to do, it’s not enough to keep people entertained for an entire day. The various Frozen activities keep guests engaged, and I really hope that they continue on a bit longer, or come up with similar activities for the rest of the year. What’s funny though, is that when you go to the evening events multiple times, you start to notice little things. What we thought was super fun the first time around, gets a little old after awhile. The band (The Iceman of the North) that comes on before the fireworks is good, but it’s the same songs each time. The lead singer changes (all in our household agree that the guy singer is much better than his female stand in) but the set is the same. The DJ is great, but it’s the same songs too. If you only see the show once you would never notice. But being locals now, we watch for similarities and changes. Your perspective changes. Regardless, I really feel that Frozen has been an awesome and welcomed addition to DHS, can’t wait to see what they have in store for the rest of 2014!
We took some down time this week too, and spent days at home swimming and working on some new projects. We announced that we have two new sites coming, “Off TMSM” and “TMSM Geek.” We have a lot of work coming up for those, and I’m really excited to report on a bigger variety of things, as well as new experiences. Speaking of new experiences, we also met up with my friend Andy (WDW Shutterbug) the other day and had the best time. We met Andy at the Magic Kingdom to watch the Festival of Fantasy Parade from up above at the train station. The view up there was wonderful, as you can see in the top pic above, and we got some great photos and video footage. You have to get there early thought to get a good spot. Afterwards we went to the Trails End Buffet at Fort Wilderness for dinner. I can’t say enough good things about that experience. There is so much to report, I have to put it in a separate blog (coming later this week). Between taking the boat over to the campgrounds, to walking the bike trails and resort area, it was truly one of the best days I’ve had since we’ve been here. It was so nice to be still at Disney, but be away from the crowds and commotion. I’m so glad that Andy insisted that we do this, it makes me want to check out so much more on Disney property and see all the things that the various areas have to offer. Best day ever. Thank you Andy.
So, that’s it for this week. Stay tuned and next week I’m sure I’ll have more Florida adventures to share. We’ll be at our two month mark then too, wow!! Until then, see ya real soon! ~M
