First, before I begin my weekly ramblings, I want to thank you all for reading and following along with our adventures thus far. The feedback I’ve gotten has been wonderful, and I’m so glad that you’re enjoying the series. Writing to you all and telling you what’s been going on has been a good outlet for me, so thank you for that! Ok…. so what’s this, week 6 already? Wow! Lets see what’s been happening with us… hmm.
We have been laying low somewhat, not hitting the parks too much. The weather has been hot and rainy though, so it’s been a little harder to plan days out and about. We went back to Epcot last weekend to spend some time, we haven’t gone there much since we arrived in Florida. The family and I hit the Character Spot and got some great Character pictures, which is something we hadn’t done yet. The kids got to try out Test Track finally, they hadn’t been on since it was all changed up. They loved building their own cars and taking pictures at the end of the ride. I think Test Track is now up there with Soarin’ as far as their favorite rides. They also did the “Kid Cot” thing at World Showcase, where you get a Duffy or Perry on a stick and take it around to the different countries to get a stamp on the back. They loved it. I’m going to have them do it again, and document it all for a blog in case other parents might be interested in it for their kids. It’s entertaining, and gives them something to look forward to while exploring the countries. Also, I finally had the infamous “Cronut” before we left World Showcase, but I already blogged about that. If you haven’t gotten one (outside Canada) yet, I highly recommend it! Good stuff!
Last night, we went to the Magic Kingdom to get some new footage for the site. We have new features coming up for our readers, so we have a lot of work to do. While we were there though, the kids finally got to meet talking Mickey at the front of the park. It’s pretty impressive. Mickey walked right over to the kids and they just lit up. My older son was a bit iffy about it at first, he’s at that age where he’s “too cool” to get excited over characters. However…… when Mickey started talking, his coolness faded! Both of them thought it was the coolest thing, having Mickey say hello, ask where they’re from, etc. I was pretty happy with it also. Make sure you get a Fastpass time to meet Mickey at the Magic Kingdom, it’s absolutely worth it. We’ll have video to share with you all shortly!
I’ve been watching the weather back home in Michigan, and it’s been more like Fall there than Summer. I wouldn’t mind a little break from the heat though, but maybe not as cold as they’ve had it. I love Summer time in Michigan, I miss that part. The annual street fair in our home town is this coming weekend, and this is the first year that I’ll miss it. In recent years, we actually worked the fair too, we never miss out. Sigh. Just little bits of homesickness here and there…. I miss my family too. I got good news though that my parents booked a trip for mid September, to come and spend a week here, so I’m excited about that. Before I know it, school will be starting and we’ll be on a whole new routine. There is a lot to keep me busy that’s coming up, which isn’t a bad thing. I’ll be able to share more with you hopefully next week, with all the new things we have in the works. Until then, I thank you for reading and sticking by me on our new adventure… See you real soon! ~M
