I can’t believe it, but it’s been almost a month since the big move to Florida. I remember months ago, wondering what things would be like once we got here, waiting for June to come, and now it’s mid July already. Time is flying. So, what’s been new in the last week? Frozen fireworks, lots of rain, and being hungry! Keep reading…..
The rain in the past week has kept us home a lot. I knew that summertime in Florida is typical for rain showers, but my gosh, it’s been much more than I anticipated. It was raining so hard the other day, the windows on the house were shaking, bucket loads of water were coming off the roof, and we actually briefly lost power. Fun times. So instead of hitting the parks, we’ve stayed in. I don’t know about you, but when I’m lazing around at home, I get hungry. No, I didn’t “need” to snack, but boredom equates for the munchies. I’m finding that in addition to missing my family and friends back home, I’m also missing the food! The biggest things I miss are pizza and Chinese food. We’ve tried a few different pizza places locally here in FL, and they have all been bad. We have a pizza place close to our old home that we’d have at least once a week, and I’m really missing it. I know one thing, when we go back to visit family, certain food stops will be on our to-do list for sure. I haven’t even looked for a good Chinese restaurant yet. Being that the pizza idea hasn’t gone well, I’m almost afraid to! Foodie problems for newly relocated Florida residents I guess you could say….. Ok, so enough complaining, back to the magic.
I have to say, the Frozen Fireworks at Hollywood Studios were even better the second time around seeing them. Granted, the first time (on opening night) we were too close to the stage and had an obstructed view, but they just seemed better over all last weekend. Also, like I said in the article before this one, Disney provides guests with a nice “snowfall” after the show as well. It’s really quite something to see. I went the second time with Andy at WDW Shutterbug and Lenise at Kingdom Camera Rentals last Saturday, and we had fun! My older son is really tired of the songs from Frozen, but he even enjoyed the fireworks. Little man is still happy with all of it, so that’s a good thing. Oh, speaking of the smaller half of Monsters Inc…. yesterday, Aidan got a part at Enchanted Tales with Belle at the Magic Kingdom, and he was thrilled. He got the part of Belle’s father, to which he totally hammed up. At the end, Belle called him “handsome” and it made his night. It’s so nice to see that the little things still mean at ton to him at his age. I don’t want my older “monster” to lose any of that magic yet, but he’s just turned 13, so I know we’re on shaky ground somewhat. But, over all, the kids are enjoying being down here and are loving visiting the parks and such. I think reality won’t settle in until school starts and they have to get out of “vacation mode” so to speak. Probably the same for all of us. Anyhow, I thank you as always for reading my weekly updates on our new journey here in the land of Mickey Mouse and palm trees! Till next week, sending you lots of hugs and pixie dust! See ya real soon! ~M

I suppose I should tell you “haveluv4donald” is me…Cindy Knoll-Bennett. 😉
I’ve loved following your adventure, but even more so getting to know you & your family. Hopefully you’ll find a pizza place soon, then you can work on the Chinese. LoL! I’m honored to call you & your beautiful family friends. Much love & BIG warm hugs!!!
Awe, there are some great pizza places there to. Unless it was a mom and pop pizza shop. Then you will have to wait. We have our favorites too. I like to make my own now that I am gluten intolerant. I don’t like sweet pizza sauce. So I MAKE MY OWN. My nephew has copied my recipe for it. You will have so much to look forward yo when you go for a visit.
