Disney animators know the way to our hearts. And stomachs.
In the Disney movie world, mice can make dresses, furniture can sing, and carpets can fly. While this is all pretty spectacular, what we want most right now is the food:
1. Apple in Snow White
Consequences, shmonsequences. As far as we’re concerned, that apple looks prime for the eating. We don’t blame you for being hungry, Snow White. It’s hard out there for a forest-dwelling teenage girl with virtually no take-out places in sight.
2. Bugs in The Lion King
Look. All we’re saying is if real bugs looked as succulent and satisfying as the ones on that log, we wouldn’t be above eating them. All of them. And licking our fingers cleans. Is that weird?
3. Sushi in Monsters, Inc.
We’re not entirely sure what kind of fish goes into sushi for monsters (or if it’s even a type of fish at all), but according to Cynthia, a.k.a. Googly Bear, it’s “impossible to get a reservation” at Harryhausen’s. Sold. But we’re mostly just impressed by the multi-tentacled sushi chef.
4. Bread in Aladdin
This is no average loaf of bread, folks. This is the bread that launched a song that our children will sing and our children’s children will sing. But we’d definitely pay for the bread since stealing is bad.
5. Porridge in Mulan
As a general rule of thumb, food arranged in the shape of a smiley face is good food. As another rule of thumb, bacon. Aunt Ja-Mushu certainly knows how to do breakfast right.
6. Gray Stuff in Beauty and the Beast
Should we actually try it? Is it actually delicious? This little pile of who-knows-what goes on the must-try list solely for research. (Bonus: You can try this in real life at Walt Disney World.)
7. Everything* in Ratatouille
The last time we made soup, it was out of a can and mediocre at best. What exactly did Remy add to Linguini’s disaster stew that made it so irresistible? Plus, everything* else in the movie looks divine. The omelets! The cheese! The perfectly crackly bread**! The ratatouille! We want it all. *Disclaimer: “Everything” does not include that nasty-looking garbage. **Can we make bread crackle our ringtone?
8. Spaghetti in Lady and the Tramp
Ah, puppy love warms our hearts. You know what else warms our hearts? A heaping plate of spaghetti and meatballs. These two have great taste. But we have a feeling that if we also tried to take on this dish without silverware, it would not look nearly this adorable.
9. Cheese in A Goofy Movie
Remember the “Leaning Tower of Cheese-a?” Brilliant pun and equally impressive cheese architecture. Whether the cheese is served from can-to-mouth or in the shape of an Italian landmark, we’ll take it all.
10. “Hunny” in any Winnie the Pooh Movie
When it comes to rumblies in tumblies, there’s no better expert than Winnie the Pooh, so we’ll trust his gut on this matter. He’s always hungry, which is a quality we admire and relate to. And look how happy Pooh looks! We’d be that happy too if we were in a pool of our favorite food.
11. Beignets in The Princess and the Frog
These pillowy puffs of powdery goodness are everything we’ve ever wanted. A) They’re deep-fried, and B) They are liberally dusted with sugar. Does Tiana deliver?
