On this date in 1995, the Coca-Cola Refreshment Corner, located on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, is renamed Casey’s Corner.
The name Casey’s Corner is a nod to the famous baseball poem, “Casey at the Bat,” which was penned by Ernest Thayer in 1888. In the picture below of the shop’s signage, you will see a small reference to when the original poem was written.
Casey’s Corner brings back the nostalgia of the old days of baseball being the national pastime. The menu features ballpark classics like hot dogs, nachos, sausage, Cracker Jacks, and cotton candy. They even have special dogs covered in chili and cheese or the Barbecue Slaw Dog that is covered in pulled pork, cole slaw and barbeque sauce.
Dining inside of the eatery, you can sit and watch baseball themed Disney shorts to enjoy with your meal. They also have outdoor seating so families can enjoy sights and sounds of the Magic Kingdom Park, including ragtime music from a live pianist, as well as views of passing parades and nighttime fireworks.
So often when we talk about where to eat in Magic Kingdom, we talk about Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern or eating with the Princesses in the Castle. Casey’s Corner is a great quick service to enjoy some nostalgic ballpark food and to enjoy the wonderful day at the Magic Kingdom.
