Here we are, another Tuesday and another new episode of Marvel’s: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. One thing to remember, the new episode will be on at a special time tonight 9:00 pm instead of the normal 8:00 slot. Now don’t think 8:00 won’t be a good show, it’s a replay from last week’s show. If you didn’t get to see it last week, make sure you tune in to see both episodes. Last week’s episode honestly was like a mini Marvel film.
Quick update and spoilers ahead of what has happened to catch you up if needed. If you aren’t up to date on what is going on in the Marvel Universe and don’t want to find out yet please stop reading. For those still reading, we know from the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier that S.H.I.E.L.D. has fallen. We found out that HYDRA has been running things all this time and just been waiting for their time to take over. Nick Fury was almost assassinated early on in the film and it appeared they succeeded later in the film. We do find out near the end, Nick faked his death to make them believe he was gone. With Fury out of the way, there was no one to stop HYDRA from taking control. They did forget about Captain America, Falcon, Black Widow and the handful of faithful S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
Fast forward to last Tuesday, we saw first hand how the events of Captain America came into play for the Agents. At this point, the bus is headed back to HQ. Coulson and the team believe May is a traitor and they handcuff her and put her in the box. We find out that May had a direct line to Fury to keep him informed of Coulson. After some persuasion, May agrees to contact Fury to find out what is going on and why the bus is going back to the hub without a pilot flying it. When she makes contact, she is informed Fury has been killed. Meanwhile back at the hub, we see Agent Hand appearing to be a HYDRA member and ordering that when Coulson’s team lands they are all to be killed. The team believes Hand is the clairvoyant and all indications appeared that way. Agent Garrett was flying and 2 S.H.I.E.L.D. drones try to bring down his plane. Agent Garrett catches up to Coulson and his team. Once they get back to the hub the team splits up and eventually captures Hand and her small team. Garrett encourages Coulson to kill Hand. Agent Garrett talked a little more than he should have and revealed information Coulson never told anyone and reveals he is the true clairvoyant. That’s right, Agent Garrett (Bill Paxton) was the evil behind all that has been happening. Thankfully, Coulson didn’t shoot Hand, who showed her true colors and was still loyal to S.H.I.E.L.D. Hand and Coulson take Garrett into custody and they appear to be the two highest ranking officers in S.H.I.E.L.D. Ward, who was trained by Garrett, appears devastated that his hero was involved in all this. Ward volunteers to accompany Hand to the Fridge so he can see to Garrett’s imprisonment personally. However in transit, Hand offers Ward the chance to execute Garrett to atone for killing Thomas Nash by mistake. He at first appears to accept the offer, but then instead guns down Hand and the two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents with them, freeing Garrett and revealing himself to have allegiance to HYDRA.
