Good Luck Charlie has been a family favorite since it first debuted 4 years ago on the Disney Channel. Viewers instantly fell in love with each one of the Duncan family members. After it’s fourth season this classic Disney sitcom will be coming to an end and we will have to say goodbye to Bob, Amy, PJ, Teddy, Gabe, Charlie, and Toby. The series finale will air 2/16/14 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.
Good Luck Charlie was created around the premise of older daughter Teddy, played by Bridgit Mendler, making a video diary to help her baby sister learn the ins and outs of their crazy family. So each episode ends with Teddy recapping the lesson of day with a video installment, that always ends with her saying “Good Luck Charlie.” Now on Sunday, February 16th she will make one last video. Gulp. It’s gonna be a tear-jerker we can already tell. We can barely even watch the commercials without feeling our mama hearts break a little each time.
We were lucky enough to interview the Duncans at a press junket for Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas a few years back and we were happy to learn that this group of people is so amazing. They were so nice, funny, and happy to talk with all of the press. When the talent is that gracious you root for them even more, and we’ve been on #TeamDuncan ever since. We’ve also seen the mom, Amy Duncan, played by Leigh-Allyn Baker, a few times at a number of events and she is just lovely, it’s always a joy to run into her. The last time we were able to chat with her was at the D23 Expo last year. She was talking about how sad she was that the show was coming to an end.
The main thing we’ve loved over the years about Good Luck Charlie, is that this show is equally enjoyable for the parents as well as the kids. It’s almost impossible to watch without relating to something that is happening with their family on any given day. Between the hilarious Dad, played by Eric Allan Kramer and shenanigans of the two sons, played by Jason Dolley and Bradley Steven Perry you’re going to laugh out loud each episode. We do! We think the reason saying goodbye is so emotional for us, is because it reminds us of our own lives, with our own children who are growing up way too quickly. As Teddy goes off to college in this final episode, some of our children are entering the college years. It makes us ache with the realization that our kids are at the intersection of adulthood and we have to let them go. Ouch. Sounds like Charlie isn’t the only one who needs good luck!
It’s by far one of our most watched shows on the Disney Channel and it will be missed. From Amy Duncan’s dreams of becoming a famous actress to Bob Duncan’s bug stories. From Gabe’s ongoing war with neighbor Ms. Dabney to Teddy’s relationship with Spencer or her best friend Ivy. Thanks for the memories. The good. The bad. The Charlie. We wish you ‘Good Luck Charlie!’
Don’t miss the Good Luck Charlie series finale, Goodbye Charlie this Sunday at 9/8c on Disney Channel!
