Although this comes as no surprise, it’s still a little sad to report. Camp Minnie Mickey at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is set to close in 2014. This area is a favorite spot for families to hang out and get their photo’s taken with some of their most beloved Disney Characters. Also, this area is the location of the Festival of the Lion King.
Thus far, Minnie and Mickey have already been relocated to the Adventurers Outpost, and a new theater for Festival of the Lion King is being built in Africa. After the announcement this weekend for Avatar Land that’s coming in 2017, we assumed that this area would be closing in the near future. We don’t know exactly when Camp Minnie Mickey will be shut down, but we will keep you posted as more news becomes available. We will miss it!!

It’s good they’re relocating the Lion King show to Africa. It was kind of in the middle of nowhere and seemed like it didn’t fit…. I love that show too; how can you not sings to the LK songs. But, I’m on the fence for the Avatar addition. I would love to see what they come up with. But, I don’t know how it’s going to do. But time will tell 🙂
