Walt Disney American Patriot

Today July 4th, Americans celebrate our independence from Britain.  I’m sure most Americans today will be celebrating the day either at a family bar b q, attending a parade or seeing a fireworks celebration tonight.  Some are even lucky enough to be at one of the Disney parks and see the celebrations and fireworks there.

Walt Disney was a patriot.  The man truly loved being an American.  His first position as a cartoonist was in high school drawing patriotic cartoons in the school paper.  Walt was also an ambulance driver in France for the Red Cross after World War I, as he had been rejected from serving in the Army due to his age.

There are all kinds of quotes from Walt that spoke about being an American and about being a citizen of our great country.

One of my personal favorites is:

“I believe that this spiritual and intellectual freedom which we Americans enjoy is our greatest cultural blessing. Therefore, it seems to me, that the first duty of culture is to defend freedom and resist all tyranny.”

Some other favorites are:

“I’ve been selfishly indulging myself as an American… as a United States citizen… enjoying all privileges that one has as a citizen, and it’s only times like this that you sort of wake up to … what it really means to be a citizen.”

“Tomorrow will be better as long as America keeps alive the ideals of freedom and a better life.”

Remember today while you are celebrating at a party or swimming in a pool what this day means and what our Forefathers did so long ago to give us the freedoms we have today.

I wanted to share this video from Disney Parks with you of the New Fourth of July Fireworks at the Magic Kingdom and some shots that are filmed from Fantasyland.
