Walt Disney Animation Studios announced earlier today that it’s adapting the Marvel comic, “Big Hero 6” into an animated feature, the first of its kind since Disney acquired Marvel. This new project is set for a 3D release on Nov. 7, 2014.
Today’s announcement was as follows: “From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Big Hero 6,” an action comedy adventure about brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion — a robot named Baymax — Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city. Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring comic-book style action and all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios.”
People who are Marvel Fans are excited about this announcement. A lot of buzz has been created regarding what Disney could or should do when it comes to the characters coming from Marvel. With the success of “The Avengers” and “Iron Man 3,” it makes sense that Disney would push forward with the comic franchise. We will post more information as we receive it!
