Steve Jobs is born. Steve would become the Co-Founder and CEO of Apple Computers. In 1986, he purchased Lucasfilm’s computer graphic department, The Graphics Group, and turned it into Pixar Animation Studios. Steve is credited with being the executive producer for the 1995 Disney/Pixar hit “Toy Story” and Pixar continued to produce hit after hit. As of 2009 Steve Jobs was the largest individual shareholder of the Walt Disney Company and also a member of its board of directors. In 2008, Disney’s Chief Executive Robert A. Iger turned to Jobs to help revamp the troubled retails stores of Disney. Steve Jobs was a pioneer in modern and personal technology and changed the way people think and use technology today.
After battling cancer for many years, Steve Jobs passed away on October 5, 2011. For the next week, the flags at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World were flown at half-staff in memory of Steve Jobs. Like Walt Disney, Steve Jobs was a amazing innovator that changed the world as we know it today. From personal computing, to iPhone, iPod, iPad and what he accomplished with Pixar, Steve Jobs was a truly amazing individual. Its wonderful that he and Walt were connected the way they were.
