Disney Vacation Club announced on 2/24 that “The Disney Collection has officially expanded, adding six Walt Disney World Resorts to Members’ menu of options. The new additions include Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and traditional hotel rooms at five resorts in the Disney Vacation Club neighborhood – Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.”
The “Disney Collection” is a list of Disney owned resorts that Disney Vacation Member can stay at using points instead of cash. These rooms are “traditional” none villa style rooms. Sometimes these Disney Collection stays save DVC members points, others they actually cost more in points than staying in a studio depending on the resort chosen. There is also a cash “conversion fee” that is applied with DVC members use their points for Disney Collection stays. Disney Cruise Line cruises, Adventures by Disney trips, select stays at Disneyland in Anaheim and stays at Disney resorts outside of the US in Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo fall under Disney Collection stays for DVC members. Members who do not purchase their ownership interests directly from Disney will not be able to use those vacation points for the Disney Collection.
What is really exciting is the addition of the Lion King and Cars suites at Art of Animation to the “Disney Collection” which will allow DVC members to stay at Art of Animation on points as well as reserve a room that can sleep up to six people, without having to book a DVC 2-bedroom villa.
